Gunung Agung is Bali’s highest and holiest volcano
Overview
For Balinese Hindus, Gunung Agung is the most sacred and revered volcano in Bali.
The 3,142-meter high volcano previously erupted in 1963, and has erupted again in September of 2017.
The challenging and perilous climb of Gunung Agung is reserved exclusively for experienced hikers.
After a 3-4 hour ascent, freezing temperatures await the hiker at the top. However, the view of the early morning’s rising sun is both magical and unforgettable, and well worth the effort. You will feel like a true champion after conquering this climb.
We will pick you up at your hotel between midnight and 1:00 a.m. (depending on your location) and will provide you with all the necessary equipment to complete the climb.
Our professional guide will offer his support to you throughout the entirety of this wonderful adventure.
Water, snacks and fruit will be provided for the hike. Once you reach the top, you will get to enjoy breakfast while taking in a stunning view of all of Bali (if the clouds allow!)
Take your time and take many pictures to capture this special moment before hiking back down to your starting point and being dropped back off at your hotel.

- warm clothes (long pants, scarf, jacket, beanie, hat);
- an extra set of clothes to change into after the hike (T-shirt, socks, etc.);
- rainwear and wet wipes (you can buy these in any store or gas station);
- a cap, a hat or a beanie;
- a small backpack for the climb;
- an ID card (or a copy).
The consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited during the trip.
